Veterinary Medical Center of Athens is proud to welcome Dr. Kent Stauffer, DVM, DACVS, expanding access to advanced orthopedic and neurologic surgical care for pets throughout East Texas.


Dr. Stauffer accepts referrals, surgical cases, and consultations from area veterinarians, with procedures performed at the Veterinary Medical Center of Athens.

About Dr. Stauffer

Dr. Stauffer is a board-certified veterinary surgeon with more than 40 years of veterinary experience and has performed thousands of successful TPLO procedures throughout his career.


A 1983 graduate of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Stauffer spent 12 years as a general practice owner before completing a small animal internship and surgical residency at Mississippi State University. He earned board certification from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2006.


Before relocating to East Texas, Dr. Stauffer owned and operated Stauffer Veterinary Surgical Clinic in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he developed a reputation for advanced surgical expertise and compassionate patient care.

  • CT Imaging

    Veterinary Medical Center of Athens offers advanced CT (Computed Tomography) imaging to provide detailed, cross-sectional images of your pet’s body. CT technology allows our veterinary team to see structures that may be difficult to fully evaluate with traditional X-rays alone.


    CT scans can provide highly detailed images of bones, joints, the spine, skull, chest, abdomen, and other internal structures, helping veterinarians diagnose complex conditions and develop an appropriate treatment or surgical plan.
